POSITION TITLE:           Substitute Bus Driver

 

FLSA:                              Non-exempt

 

QUALIFICATIONS:                         

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. 
  • CDL (Commercial driver's license with passenger endorsements)
  • Oklahoma Bus Drivers Certification
  • Must pass physical exam to include vision acuity and drug testing
  • An investigation must reveal a satisfactory driving record and no convictions or pleading guilty pursuant to drug/alcohol related or felony arrests.

 

REPORTS TO:  Director of Operations

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Maintain a prescribed route and schedule in the loading and discharging of students, as determined by the transportation supervisor.
  2. Comply with legal controls concerning public school buses and motor vehicle laws as prescribed by federal and state regulatory agencies.
  3. Perform daily pre-trip inspections and submit results to the appropriate department.
  4. Maintain a safe and orderly environment within the confines of the school bus.
  5. Become familiar with and adhere to district policies in regard to student behavior management and disciplinary procedures.
  6. Participate in periodic emergency evacuation drills.
  7. Attend state certified driver training refresher courses as needed.
  8. Comply with district requirements of annual physical examinations and driving record checks as previously described.
  9. Keep the bus swept and clean as possible.

 

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provide services for activity trips as assigned.
  2. Assist in training of driver candidates when appropriated and assigned.
  3. Participate in periodic performance evaluations.
  4. Attend workshops and training sessions, which are provided by the department.
  5. Perform other duties and assume such other responsibilities as may be required to accomplish essential job functions as directed by the appropriate administrator(s).
  6. Promote a positive image.
